Ratchet Mechanism First Study

This is one of the first models in a series of simple ratchet mechanisms.

To test their strength and functionality, it was included in the design an hexagonal slot for the standard 1/4" (6,4 mm) bits.

It holds force quite well, however it needs some force to rotate the pawls.

This model was published on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2213785)

The shaft has a conical design to allow printing in one piece (although in this case it had to be separated in two), act as a bearing and hold some axial force.
For future projects, already in tests, the ratchet mechanism will be printed in one single piece.
